Grandpa’s new kitty
Kate is getting better and better at making different animal noises. It sure makes driving in the car less boring. She can do duck (her favorite), cat, dog, frog, and cow right now. It helps that she has a cat and two dogs at home.
Kate has two ear infections right now but she’s a trooper. The doc says they look really painful but Kate doesn’t seem to cry too much. I think she has a higher pain tolerance like her daddy. She also has lots of teeth now which makes her really happy because she can eat more cookies that way. I’ve been terrible at updating my tumblog as you can see from scrolling through the past few dates. I’m back now!
Kate had her doctor’s appointment today for her 1 year checkup. She had 2 shots and has to come back for a flu shot in a few weeks. Here are her measurements: 50-75% in height (shocking!), 25% in weight (shocking!), and 75% in head size. Her previous measurements she was short and chubby and now these measurements are almost the opposite: normal-to-above-average in height and slighty-less-than-average in weight.
Thankfully Kate is too young to remember the craziness that happened on her birthday. This past weekend we celebrated Kate turning 1 year old by having lots of family over to the house. Unfortunately, we had an accident in the kitchen and had to call 911 about 45 minutes before everyone showed up. I won’t go into too many details here but needless to say it was one crazy birthday party. Most of Tracy’s family *missed* the entire party with the exception of her Aunt Stacey and her family. Thanks for rescuing Kate’s birthday party Aunt Stacey - we owe you big time! Aunt Stacey took over in the kitchen and helped prepare the food for everyone. What should have been a complete disaster turned into a respectable party. I’ve come to the realization that birthday parties are no longer fun for the following reasons: I had to work really hard to get the house ready; I don’t get to socialize as much as I wanted; I don’t get to relax as much as I wanted; I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have liked; and I had to watch Kate most of the time by myself with the absence of Mom, Grandma, and Grandpa (whom are Kate’s other go-to people). Kate did not cry the entire time and enjoyed her presents and the cake more than I thought she would since she was pretty tired. Unfortunately, there was no way she would take even a small nap with so many people there and things going on. I’m glad the party is over and that everyone is okay. Birthday parties are hard enough without emergency vehicles involved! I will be posting some video here soon.
